In The Black MGMT is a boutique bookkeeping and business management firm specializing, but not limited to, small businesses, creative agencies and artists. In The Black MGMT handles all of your bookkeeping needs from basic data entry and monthly bank reconciliations to year end tax planning, profitability analysis and various tax filings. In addition to the accounting side, we also focus on business management and human resources. Our main goal is to help you develop and manage a successful, profitable business.

ABOUT MELISSA
In The Black MGMT principal and founder, Melissa Bertoncini is a 15 year bookkeeping and business management veteran based in NYC; working exclusively with small businesses, specializing in artists and art galleries. Having earned a degree in Economics at SUNY Stony Brook (Stony Brook, NY) and Sussex University (Brighton, England), she has the educational foundation and experience to help small businesses hone in on their good (and bad) habits, making their business more profitable.
Nearly two decades of experience working exclusively with small businesses in various creative fields. For the past fifteen years, working independently as a bookkeeper and controller. Providing bookkeeping, tax preparation, and business management services.

She discusses everything from calculating prices to proper document organization for tax preparation. Either way it is her hope that everyone leaves feeling more powerful to make good financial decisions than when they arrived.
Seminars
Melissa has presented at various universities, artist collectives and organizations along the East Coast. She provides engaging visuals and worksheets. Virtually or in person, it is always a pleasure to connect with artists and creatives of all disciplines in a way that is meaningful. She hopes to release an in-house seminar schedule in 2023.
